Timneh African Grey
(Psittacus erithacus timneh)

Baby Timneh Grey

The Timneh African Grey is very similar to the Congo African Grey. The basic differences come down to appearance and price. The darker, smaller timneh has a maroon tail with a tinge of pink at the base of the beak whereas, the Congo is lighter in color, larger in size and has a bright red tail with a solid black beak. The timneh is also generally less expensive. There are those that prefer the smaller stature of the timneh while not compromising on talking ability or intelligence. It's really just a matter of personal preference as both make wonderful pets.
